THE FAMILY PAST THAT LIVES WITHIN US – as it continues to shape our lives
Pastoral psychology personality development training - with family biographical reconstruction
Application deadline: September 2020, 10.
Content and description of the training
Our family heirlooms can be resources, but they can also hinder the free development of personality. With the biographical reconstruction, our family heritage appears in a new context:
- We can see that what can narrow the living space today ensured survival in times of danger.
- It becomes more understandable what shaped female and male roles, attitudes, constraints, and family norms, which in the meantime have lost their relevance.
- The "scapegoat" can be put into a new picture, a broader perspective, which helps to resolve the tension. The goal is to recognize and find the actualization of the sustaining resources in the family - the family "salvation story".
- An indispensable part of the personality development work based on pastoral psychology is the exploration of (religious) faith and theological trains, the development of the personal theological concept and creed.
The compiled family history is also a gift for the next generation, and it can contribute to the clarification of family and kinship relationships with new interpretations.
The personality development training is based on a pastoral psychology approach. It follows the concept and practical elements used for 30 years in German pastoral psychology and family counseling training.
